Hello and welcome to Desert Island Jams. My name is Sarah Spoon and I'll be your host for this monthly podcast where I sit down with music nerds and talk about music. It's mainly going to be people from the Lindy hop and blues dance communities, specifically musicians and DJs, but also sometimes the odd teacher and the idea is that they have to pick 10 songs if they were stuck on a desert island with a really tiny mp3 player. As a DJ myself, I really love chatting to other DJs when I've been at events, and we only ever really get the chance to talk about jazz or blues, whereas I know there are so much more to their musical tastes than meets the eye but there's never time or space for it. So I'm taking the space now. So this is a great opportunity for us to potentially find some sweet new tunes to bless our lives with but also to get to know these lovely people a little bit better. The idea for this came during the first few weeks of the lockdown because of COVID 19 and I found myself with all this time on my hands so armed with a donated microphone I set about concocting a dastardly plan to interview fellow music geeks.
